God called you to His Charles Tolbert
Isaiah 42:1-4
1 Corinthians 12:28-31 New International Version (NIV)
28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[a]? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. Why are you alive on earth today? What were you created to do? What is your specific assignment on earth? You were created, born and ordained for a specific assignment on earth.
Why are you on earth?
You are alive on earth to carry out and accomplish the assignment (task) God created and ordained you to do.
Before God formed you in your mother’s womb, He knew you and ordained you for a specific task on earth like He revealed to Jeremiah.
You are not on this earth by mistake. No person is born by mistake; it is the plan of God.
In the Bible, God created every person to carry out a specific assignment on earth. Let’s look at some of them.
1. Moses-God created Moses for only one assignment on earth; to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt.2. Joshua-God created Joshua for only one assignment on earth; to lead the children of Israel across river Jordan into the Promised Land. Joshua was the man created by God to take over after Moses.3. David-God created David to shepherd and be a warrior to the children of Israel.4. Solomon-Solomon was created and placed on this earth to build the temple.5. Jeremiah-Jeremiah was created and placed on earth to be a prophet6. Jonah-Jonah was created to take repentance message to Nineveh7. John the Baptist-John the Baptist was created for only one assignment on earth; a voice in the wilderness to prepare the way for Jesus.8. Paul-Paul was created to take the gospel to gentiles
The official lockdown started March 23 and will likely end May 1st. That is EXACTLY 40 days. The Latin root of the word “quarantine” is “forty”.So what does the Bible say about 40?The flood lasted 40 days.40 years Moses fled Egypt.40 days Moses stayed on Mount Sinai to receive the Commandments.Exodus lasted 40 years.Jesus fasted for 40 days.40 days for a woman to rest after giving birth.Optimum number of weeks for human gestation is 40.A group of theologians thinks the number 40 represents “change”. It is the time of preparing a person, or people, to make a fundamental change.Something will happen after these 40 days. Just believe and pray. Remember, whenever the number 40 appears in the Bible, there is a “change”.Please know that during this “quarantine” rivers are cleaning up, vegetation is growing, the air is becoming cleaner because of less pollution, there is less theft and murder, healing is happening, and most importantly, people are turning to Christ. The Earth is at rest for the first time in many years and hearts are truly transforming.Remember we are in the year 2020, and 20 + 20 = 40.Also, 2020 is the year of the United States Census. Jesus Christ, the savior of the world, was born during a census.Lastly, 2020 is perfect vision. May our sight focus on the Lord and living according to His perfect vision for us knowing He holds us in the palm of His hand.May these days of “quarantine” bring spiritual liberation to our souls, our nation, and our world.
On May 28, 2020! Alicia and I will celebrate our 40th month.
