THE VESSEL
The Potter molded the clay and He shaped the vessel.
The vessel was perfect that the Potter did make.
Though the vessel was dropped from a mighty height, and it broke as it hit the hardened floor.
It laid there in pieces unusable for the purpose it was made
But the Potter remembered one day where He had left the vessel, and the covenant He had made.
And although it lay dormant the vessel could still be made whole.
The Potter picked up the broken parts, soaked in water all the little pieces until they were but the grains of dust they once had been.
Once again the Potter took the clay.
He reshaped the clay so that it was re-born as He had once made.
No longer a broken vessel, but whole unto the Lord.
We are the vessel, and Jesus the Potter.
The emerging in water through baptism wetting the soul.
We are reborn through Jesus Christ.

HE CALLED
HE CALLED;
I DID NOT ANSWER THE PHONE.
HE CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE, I HEARD HIS VOICE AND ERASED IT.
I TOOK THE PHONE OFF OF THE HOOK; HE GOT A BUSY SIGNAL.
HE CAME TO MY HOUSE, KNOCKED ON MY DOOR;
I HID BEHIND THE CURTAIN.
WHEN I WAS IN BED I COULD HEAR HIS VOICE, I WAS AFRAID TO SHUT MY EYES.
FINALLY, WHEN I LEAST EXPECTED IT, ON A SUNDAY NIGHT, WHEN I WAS WITH FRIENDS, HE CALLED.
I HAD NO PLACE TO HIDE.
A COLD CHILL PASSED THOUGH MY BODY; SWEAT BROKE OUT ON MY FOREHEAD.
HE CALLED. I LISTEN.
HE SAID, “THIS IS GOD I NEED YOU!”
LORD, I ANSWERED, I AM NOT READY, I AM AFRAID, PLEASE CALL ON SOMEONE ELSE TO DO YOUR WORK, I DO NOT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO BRING EVEN MYSELF BACK TO YOU, LET ALONE ONE OF YOUR LOST SHEEP.
HE CALLED. I LISTEN.
“ANYTHING YOU NEED I WILL PROVIDE YOU,” SAID THE LORD
MY CHILD I HAVE BEEN TRAINING YOU FOR MANY YEARS AND NOW YOU ARE READY.
TAKE MY STAFF.
IT IS TIME I STOPPED CARRYING YOU AND IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO TAKE MY WORD TO MY CHILDREN.
HE CALLED. I LISTEN.
